Q: Is this a traditional martial arts school?

A: No, this a Self Defense and Empowerment Centre. The tecniques that are taught are taken from four major martial arts disciplines and blended wtih street fighting and other methods to create a Self Defense programme. Traditional schools focus on one tradition (i.e Tang Soo Do, Judo, or other methods).

Q: Is it really possible to learn these things over the internet?

Yes! Students will receive both still picture and video instruction via email attachments. These images will be downloaded to the student's computer, and allow the student to practice at her own pace. Students have access to the instructor via email and postal service. Learning these skills in the privacy and comfort of your own home when it's convenient for you is the wave of the future. No more trying to find a babysitter..no more hassle with finding a parking place...no more expensive sign up fees and contracts that keep you paying if you decide to stop taking. Convenience all the way around!

Q: Will I earn belt rankings?

Yes! Students have the same opportunity to advance as others in other martial arts schools. Every two months the student will "Test" by submitting a video tape to the instructor by mail (students who live in the Peace Valley Region of British Columbia, Canada can test in person). Belts and certificates are awarded to all who pass the tests. Certificates of Special Achievement are awarded periodically at the Instructor's discression.

Q: How much is tuition?

A: Tuition is $80.00 CAN funds for each testing period (every two months). Due to the ever changing international exchange rate for currency, it's imperative that a constant fee be employed, and as local students are charged this amount, so are the Internet Students.

Students from other countries must obtain an International Money Order payable in Canada for the total amount of $80.00 CAN. Your bank will tell you what that equals in your currency. It is far less in the US, depending on how the US dollar relates to the Canadian one.

When a student has proven themselves dedicated and wishes to continue instruction past Green Belt status they are given the option of paying monthly. This, of course, is $40.00 per month.

These fees are not going to change or increase any time in the near future.

Q: What do I get when I join Amazon Nation?

A: You get a Certificate of Membership, instructional pictures and videos and access to the Instructor anytime you wish via email. This means you can ask as many questions as you need to so that your programme is created JUST FOR YOU! No two programmes will be the same, because no two students are the same. We each have strengths and weaknesses. Amazon Nation will help you develop your strengths and downplay your weaknesses. You also get belts and certificates of rank when you pass your tests. Down the line we will have patches and other merchandise availiable exclusively to Amazon Nation members.

Q: Is this just about fighting?

A: Not at all. Amazon Nation is created for women by a woman. It's not only to help women learn useful and life saving self defense skills, but fosters a feeling of Pride in accomplishment and helps us bond as women through identifying with the Ancient Amazon. This is not Role Play, this is real.

Q: Will I be able to meet others who belong to Amazon Nation?

Yes! An email group has been set up for those who wish to interact with others. That's part of our strength...the ability to work together and learn from one another. It helps to foster out feeling of support and comeradery.
